International Society on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders

The International Society on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders was established in January 1999 during the First International Workshop on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders held at
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

The ISHID aims to promote a better understanding of congenital genito-urinary anomalies, focusing on hypospadias and intersex disorders, through a world-wide collaboration of scientists, surgeons, physicians, patients and their families. The Society is an international platform for interdisciplinary dialogue for specialists with all interested parties.

The Second ISHID meeting was realised in September 2001 at the same venue with live operative demonstrations on the various hypospadias repair techniques and their complications. The ISHID General Body Meeting was held during the same instance. Members and Honorary Members were registered, and Prof. H.S. Asopa was elected President of the ISHID.
The convenor of the first and second ISHID meetings was Dr. D.K. Gupta, founder member of ISHID. The logo of the society was officially released by Prof. John Hutson (Melbourne).

The Society resolved to hold its next meeting as a World Congress on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders in Istanbul in November 2005.

A surgical workshop on hypospadias and intersex has been organized by ISHID on 16-17 November 2006 in New Delhi.

The Second
World Congress on Hypospadias and DSD will be held in Rome on 16-18 November 2007.
