The Society has very recently completed the First World Congress on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders . The event, as attested by the delegates from diverse backgrounds and representing different centers, has been an immense success surpassing expectations. Obviously, there is a vivid and growing interest in the congenital urogenital problems of children where many questions remain unanswered.

The abstracts of the First World Congress on Hypospadias and Intersex will be availabe for review on the ISHID website. The transcripts of the invited lectures will also be provided on the same site in the coming months. We are, however, aware that adressing issues in general may not be satisfactory the individual, and we still have a lot to learn from our patients and the experience of each other.

Without doubt, the attraction to the ISHID World Congress held in Istanbul came from the previous workshops. The Society will be organising a third workshop in New Delhi this year on 16-17 November 2006, focusing on the reconstructive surgery of hypospadias and intersex. Further information on this event, including the scientific program will be announced shortly.
You are kindly invited to complete the adress form to receive notice of further announcements. The Second World Congress on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders will be held in 2007.
The First Announcement is due at the New Delhi workshop.

Our web-page is conceived as an interactive forum open to all parties on the various issues of hypospadias and intersex. I would like to note that the ISHID membership is open to all medical professionals and those who are devoted to the care of persons with urogenital anomalies.
To facilitate subscription we propose a one-time life-long membership fee at a moderate rate
– a rate less than the annual membership fee of many international societies.

The ISHID Board has been expanded to represent a truly international organisation.

I believe the International Society on Hypospadias and Intersex Disorders will be a meeting point for specialists with dedication and enthusiasm, and look forward to the expansion of the
co-operation that has been achieved under the aegis of our society.
